JOHN WALKER
A Coatbridge lad who won almost every honour in the game after leaving the Volunteer. Made his debut against Ireland at Celtic Park in 1885, scoring twice. Five caps in total, three goals.
WILLIE ROBB
A Rutherglen man, played for Birmingham City and Third Lanark before joining Armadale as the goalkeeper of the 'shock' team. Won four League Championship medals when he went to Ibrox. Won the Southern League with Guildford at the age of 43. Twice honoured against Wales in 1925 and 1927.
DAVID STEELE

A Carluke man, signed for Armadale in 1916 before going to Bristol Rovers and then Huddersfield Town. Later managed Huddersfield Town, Bradford PA and Bradford City. Played in all three Home Internationals in 1923.
JIMMY WATSON
Capped twice against Nothern Ireland, with Motherwell in 1947 and Huddersfield Town in 1953.
GEORGE FARM
Born in Edinburgh but educated locally and joined Armadale as a boy. Signed for Hibernian then sold to Blackpool where he made over 500 appearances, including the 'Matthews' FA Cup final of 1953. Later managed Queen of the South, Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers. 10 Caps
JOHNNY MacLEOD
Played in three World Cup Qualifiers but he was one of those who never wore the dark blue again after the 9-3 Wembley humiliation in 1961.
JACKIE PLENDERLEITH
Won his sole cap at Hampden in a 5-2 win over Northern Ireland while at Manchester City.
JOE BAKER

Born in Liverpool to a Scottish mother, growing up in Motherwell. Played for Coltness before being signed by Hibernian and farmed out to Armadale. First player out-side the English Game to be capped by England. Won eight caps including against Scotland in 1960. Scored three international goals. Played for : Hibernian, Torino, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland and Raith Rovers. Briefly managed Albion Rovers. Scored 294 goals in under 500 games.
COLIN STEIN
Signed for Armadale from Broxburn Strollers. Signed by Hibernian after starring in a cup final at Easter Road. First £100,000 transfer in Scotland when moving to Rangers. Part of the Ibrox team that could'nt beat Celtic's domestic stranglehold but scored in Rangers' famous win against Dynamo Moscow in Barcelona. Moved to Coventry City, back to Rangers and finished at Kilmarnock. Appeared 21 times for Scotland, scoring nine goals. This included the last hat-trick (actually four) for Scotland (v Cyprus in 1969). He donated the jersey he wore which is now displayed in the Volunteer Committee room.
Former Internationalists
ALEX MENZIES
Came from Blantyre and played for Vics before joining Hearts. Played for Scotland in a 2-1 win over England in 1906. Had spells at Motherwell and Arthurlie before going to Manchester United and Luton Town. Came to Armadale in 1911 and immediately repaid the signing on fee by scoring the winner against Peterhead that secured a useful gate at Aberdeen.
THOMAS TAIT
Played for Armadale in 1913 - 14 having been capped against Wales in 1911 while at Sunderland.
JIM HAMILTON
Capped whilst with St Mirren against Nothern Ireland in 1924. Signed for the Rangers cup-tie but sent off early and soon left the club.
JOE CRAIG
Played for Armadale in the mid 1980s having been capped against Sweden in a 3-1 win while at Celtic in 1977. He came on as a substitute for Kenny Burns with 15 minutes left, scored four minutes later but never played for Scotland again.

Jimmy Goldie (1947), Jocky Robertson (1949-51), Bill Durie (1949), Bobby Balderston (1951), Tommy D'Arcy (1953), Des Fox (1955), Hector McKinlay (1962), David Park (1980), Andy Cunningham (1982), John Gaffney (1984) and Kevin Budinauckas (1991).
Donald Hamilton was capped for Amateur Scotland while attached to Armadale Thistle.
