ARMADALE THISTLE 3 V 1 BONNYRIGG ROSE
(21 April 2008 Dechmont Forklift Cup Round Two  )

The Dale applied early pressure in this game forcing several corners.
On 10 minutes a Miller corner from the left was only half cleared by The Rose defence to fall
to Jamie Gallagher who found the back of the net with a high volley.
The match then swung the other way and on 30 mins Rose intercepted a bad back pass from Jamie Gallagher
to net their equaliser making the half time score 1 - 1
Rose then started the second half the better team as they tried to open up a strong Dale defence but on 60 mins
Graeme Crawford broke through and saw his shot re-bound off the post, only for sub Stuart Malcolm to slot home from 12 yards.
The Rose then brought on their big guns, Ross and Elliot and went into a 4-3-3 formation
Under heavy pressure for the next 25 mins The Dale were relieved when a long ball from defence found
Graeme Crawford who kept up his strike rate to score The Dales' third and put them into the next round.

ARMADALE THISTLE 3 V 3 SAUCHIE JUNIORS
(11 April 2008 Dechmont Forklift Cup  )

A great match for the neutral. It was cat and mouse through the whole game.
Three times The Dale took the lead through Ross Miller, David Murphy and Jamie Gallacher
and three time Sauchie came back to end the 90 mins 3 - 3.
It was the penalty kicks that shone for Armadale this week having been dissappointed in the previous game.
While Graeme Crawford, Stuart Malcolm and Steven Johnstone slotted their spot kicks home
It was the Performance of Michael Dukes ensuring Armadale went through saving three of the Sauchie penalties.

CAMELON JUNIORS 3 V 2 ARMADALE THISTLE
(5 April 2008 East of Scotland Cup)

Camelon started by putting The Dale on the back foot with good passing football, but never looked like scoring apart from a couple of long range shots that were well saved by Michael Dukes. In stoppage time at the end of the first half Camelon took the lead when a ball into the box was cooly finished by Mitchell. Half - time 1 - 0 Camelon The second half saw Armadale change formation from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 and it seemed to make a difference as they began to take the game to camelon. Dean Purdie found himself unfortunate to be substituted but the team needed a change and he was the unlucky one. A young loanplayer from boness came on at right mid, with Murphy going up front with Crawford. In the 67th minute Armadale equalised with a wonder goal. David Murphy made a run down the right and fired a spectacular left footed shot past a good camelon keeper and The Dale were back in the game. 15 mins later a through ball from Michael Gemmil put Crawford through and he made no mistake to make it 2-1. It looked like Armadale were going to hold onto the game with 15 mins to go. However, as always seems the case, the team seems to retreat in the last minutes of the game. Camelon put on heavy pressure and we struggled to keep a hold of the ball. They got a corner deep into injury time which Crawford should have cleared but he tried to take a touch which let Ryan steal possession. He then put a low cross over which somehow went past everone into the net. The game then went on to penalties with Camelon winning 3-2. Armadale should take heart from this battling performance against a team top of the Super league!

DUNDEE NORTH END 1 V 1 ARMADALE THISTLE
(22 March 2008)

Armadale travelled up to Dundee to play North End who are sitting well up the table, and on any occasion,
this was going to a very difficult game
.

As with last week, the Dale started off positively with an attacking formation and pressurised the
Dundee defence from the start. After 10 minutes attacking, Armadale slotted it down the right hand
side for Steven Johnstone to whip in a great cross to be fired home by Stuart Malcolm.

Armadale continued to press through Gemmell and Co holding the midfield but poor refereeing and
linesmens decisions seen all but a few attacks shut down.
The Dale didn't have many attacks to deal with in the first half, with the exception of a few where the
midfield totally lost their shape, which wasn't helped by the defence allowing the opposition to dictate
where their back four were postitioned.

The second half started off slowly for the Dale, seemed like the Dundee squad took more out of the
half team talk than the Dale boys.
With the park being in excellent condition, fast attacking play was the order of the day and Dundee
were making the best of the oportunities. Many of the attacks were shut down by the constant safe
hands of Michael Dukes in goal.

Dundee came close on another occasion with one shot hitting the post then another one coming
off the bar to be pick up by Dukes. Dukes was yellow carded by the ref for apparently taking more
than 6 seconds to release the ball. Spud was also booked for a
dangerous tackle which was witnessed by all, with him winning the ball fairly.

Armadale continued to sit back and with decisions not going their way the inevitable happened,
a mix up in the box allow Dundee to slot home with 5 minutes to go.

All of the Armadale faithful looked as though we were destined for a draw when Crawford and
Malcolm paired up to score, this was immediately chopped off for off - side. Shortly after this, the ref blew for full time and all the
hard work by the boys was in vain as it was 2 points that were STOLEN, rather than lost.

The guys have certainly turned their performances and committment around but, is it too late to
save the season. If it is, this and last weeks performance shows that they should not be afraid
of anyone in this league.

ARMADALE THISTLE 1 V 0 MONTROSE ROSELEA
(15 March 2008)

Armadale worked hard for this well deserved win.
The first half saw Armadale taking the game to Montrose
with Michael Gemmill commanding the midfield and
Crawford with Johntone keeping the Montrose defence busy up front
With the majority of the play going to The Dale they were unlucky
not to be in front at half time with the best effort falling
to Crawford in the last minute

The game progressed into the second half with Armadale again on top.
A 60th minute handball by Roselea gave Armadale the game with
Graeme Crawford scoring from the penalty spot.
Montrose never recovered from going a goal down and in the 75th minute
were reduced to 10 men.

NEWTONGRANGE STAR 2 V 0 ARMADALE THISTLE
(01 MARCH 2008)
The most positive point that can be made about today's game was the return of
goalkeeper Michael Dukes and the work rate of front man David Murphy.
In an otherwise hard fought match there was little for The Dale Boys to cheer about.
The same could be said for Star support in the first half with it ending 0 - 0.
In the second half however Star got on the score sheet with a ten yard shot from Joe Dunbar breaking the deadlock.
The game was finished off in controversy over Star's 69th minute second goal.
The ball seemed to have crossed the line but the linesman allowed play to continue with
Alan Wilson passing through to Gareth Hutchinson to slot home from eight yards.

ARMADALE THISTLE 3 V 3 ROSYTH
(16 Feb 2008)
This game was about the points. Six pointer it was called, six goals it provided.
Some Armadale fans seemed to think it was over at half time. Why?
Because on 28 minutes a mistake was made in the Dale defence and Craig Morrison
capitalised by scoring for the away team making it 1- 0.
Another mistake by The Dale on 35 mins saw them give the ball away and a sharp
Stewart Hadden nipped in to penalise, making it 2 - 0 at half time.
Armadale made a match out of the second half with Jamie Valentine hitting a cracking 20 yarder
to pull one back for the Dale followed two minutes later with a headed goal from a corner kick by
last season's player of the season Graeme Crawford.
The game progressed into a hard fought cup - like tie and seemed all over until the 75th minute when
Stewart Haddow again put the away team ahead with a thumping 18 yard screamer.
It seemed to be a day of long shots and very little six yard box action and so it was to tie up the match.
Jamie Valentine again latched on to the ball from 20 yards to make the final score a very
creditable 3 - 3 with both teams leaving the Volunteer pitch believing the game should have been the
six pointer it started out to be but happy to settle with a share of the rewards.

HARTHILL ROYAL 0 V 1 ARMADALE THISTLE
(9 Feb 2008 Dem - Master Demolition cup)
Armadale edged through to the next round of the Dem - Master Demolition cup with a hard fought
win over Harthill Royal at Gibbshill Park in a mostly uneventful match. With both keepers on form
chances were limited.

The game was changed when Stevie Johnstone replaced the injured Chris Liddle on 78 minutes.

In the 90th minute Johnstone ran on to a through ball from Ross Miller and went on to score
the only goal of the game which saw Armadale into the hat for the next round.
