Born in Edinburgh but educated locally and joined Armadale as a boy. Signed for Hibernian then sold to Blackpool where he made over 500 appearances, including the 'Matthews' FA Cup final of 1953. Later managed Queen of the South, Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers. 10 Caps
